My name is Melissa Keegan and I am an early elementary teacher (grades 1-3). After graduating from BYU, I went back to school to pursue my interests in education. I am now proudly highly certified in elementary and special education, as well as Montessori certified.
I began my career working in severe special education for about 8 years. My transition to elementary education began living abroad teaching English immersion kindergarten in South Korea. I fell in love with teaching all over again. My husband and I were able to backpack across Southeast Asia and India before returning home. It was a life-changing adventure!
Now I have found home here at Mountain West. I love working in such a wonderful community of teachers, staff, administrators, and students. In our class we celebrate our gifts and challenges, and try to encourage a growth mindset. For fun outside of school, I love to read, make jewelry and any other craft I can get my hands on. I hope that my enthusiasm for teaching and love of the students will continue to provide a safe, engaging, and loving environment. I look forward to helping your kids get inspired to learn, and to seeing each student's potential unfold.
